Amorim is being linked with a return to the Premier League just five months after his Man Utd sacking.

Former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is among the frontrunners to become the next manager of a Premier League club just five months after being sacked.

Amorim was dismissed by United after just 14 months in charge in January, with his reign coinciding with the club’s lowest-ever Premier League finish of 15th, as well as defeat in the 2025 Europa League final against Spurs.

The Portuguese coach was sacked less than 24 hours after United’s 1-1 draw away at Leeds United on January 4, having called out senior members of the club’s hierarchy during a post-match press conference.

At the time, the 20-time English top-flight champions were sixth in the Premier League.

Now, five months on, Amorim’s dismal spell at the club is a distant memory, with new head coach and successor Michael Carrick guiding the side to a third-place Premier League finish and Champions League qualification during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign.

Following his departure from United, Amorim was linked with jobs in his native Portugal, with some reports suggesting he could succeed Jose Mourinho as Benfica manager due to his association with the Lisbon club, where he played during his career.

However, that move is now off the table, with former Fulham head coach Marco Silva having agreed to fill the vacancy at the Estádio da Luz, while Mourinho is set to be confirmed as Real Madrid’s new manager.

Silva’s exit may provide Amorim with an opportunity to return to English football, with the former United boss among the frontrunners to become Fulham’s next manager, despite Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna remaining the favourite.

As reported by talkSPORT, Amorim is priced at 4/1 to take over at Craven Cottage, with Coventry City boss Frank Lampard available at the same odds.

McKenna is the favourite at 4/7, while Lens boss and Crystal Palace target Pierre Sage is priced at 8/1.

Recently sacked former Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is available at 12/1, alongside former Palace boss Oliver Glasner.

Meanwhile, Bodø/Glimt’s Kjetil Knutsen is priced at 16/1 after guiding the Norwegian side to the Champions League round of 16 last season.

Former Fulham midfielder Scott Parker is also in the running at 16/1, along with USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino and former Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior.
