Manchester United have reportedly enquired about the availability of a Manchester City star as Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his squad ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Amorim’s Man United are currently taking part in the US-based Premier League Summer Series alongside Everton, West Ham United, and Bournemouth.
Their trip to the States will no doubt help the Red Devils prepare for the 2025/26 Premier League.
As ever, throughout the summer break, fans have been keeping a keen eye on the club’s transfer business with Bryan Mbeumo, Diego Leon and Matheus Cunha all joining the 20-time English champions ahead of what will be a defining season for Amorim.

United have been linked with several attacking options, with The Athletic reporting on Thursday that they have narrowed their search to Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Meanwhile, several players will likely leave the club – namely Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho – while Marcus Rashford has completed a season-long loan switch to Spanish champions Barcelona.
Question marks remain over goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is currently nursing a knock which has hampered his pre-season.

On Wednesday, ESPN reported that United were interested in Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope and Paris Saint-Germain shot stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who would both provide competition for Onana if they were to join.
Also on Wednesday, Football Transfers reported that United have made contact with representatives of Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, although no official bid has been put forward by the Red Devils.
Ortega, 32, who is contracted to City until the summer of 2026, has mainly been second-choice to Ederson since arriving from Arminia Bielefeld in 2022 and has since featured 56 times for Pep Guardiola’s side.

His defining moment came during City’s title-winning 2023/24 campaign when he made a crucial save to deny Spurs’ Son Heung-min during a 2-0 away win. A draw would’ve allowed Arsenal to remain top of the league.
However, Ortega's days at City appear to be numbered as James Trafford has re-signed from Burnley, while Marcus Bettinelli has arrived to provide further back-up.
On Tuesday, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that “Manchester City have informed Stefan Ortega that he can leave the club this summer following Trafford’s arrival”.
