Roy Keane revealed he had a 'lovely and honest' phone call with Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes after a recent altercation between the pair.
Fernandes accused Keane of lying last month when the Irishman wrongly interpreted a quote from the Portuguese international that suggested he had chosen to pass to a teammate instead of shooting during his pursuit of the Premier League assist record.
Speaking on The Overlap podcast, Keane said: "After the [Forest] game he got interviewed and he said, the captain of Manchester United said: 'A few times, I probably should have shot but I made them passes.' Wow. How can your mindset of a footballer be going into a match to be about an individual record? He won't be winning trophies, not with that mindset of the team."
However, those quotes had been misinterpreted by Keane. Fernandes actually stated: "There were probably moments today when I should have passed instead of shot."

The United captain then appeared on The Diary of a CEO podcast, where he stated he wanted to speak with Keane about his incorrect comments and set the record straight. He even asked former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his phone number so that they could address the disagreement.
What Fernandes told Keane during phone call
Keane has now revealed that he did indeed have a conversation with Fernandes about the misunderstanding and insisted that the matter has now been dealt with appropriately.
“He apologised, I forgave him, no problem, but no it was a good chat,” Keane joked on the Stick to Football podcast.
"No, there was a reaction after what we said on the podcast a few weeks ago and he reached out to me and wanted a chat… I called him and we had a lovely chat.
“A lovely chat about a bit of everything, but it was nice because when we do podcasts or games, sometimes you think you say something afterwards and you communicate something and it doesn’t come across properly, so people get upset and he said he wanted to talk to me.
“And we had a nice, mature conversation. It was lovely. A lovely chat.
“I like having boundaries with players. I don’t want to be speaking to players every few weeks or their agents, I don’t want to go down that road, but every now and then a player might reach out, so I think it was important I spoke to him.
“There has been lots going on and lots reported. He’s obviously a big player for United, I’m an ex-United player and I think the idea of this communicating and having a proper conversation, I really enjoyed it. Hopefully I think he did as well. Nice chat about a bit of everything and I felt better afterwards.”
