Michael Carrick has reportedly signed off his first sale as Manchester United boss after a strong start in the Old Trafford hotseat.

Former United midfielder Carrick took the reins on a caretaker basis for the second time in January after the sacking of Ruben Amorim and Darren Fletcher's short interim spell.

The ex Middlesbrough manager has enjoyed a dream start in the job, leading United to fourth in the table after a six-game unbeaten run which included highlight wins over Manchester City and Arsenal.

Instead of dipping into the winter transfer market, Carrick has worked with the squad he had at his disposal and already helped improve a plethora of players.

However, before the summer transfer window opens, it appears as though one player's fate has already been sealed.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Besiktas have reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Altay Bayindir at the start of the next transfer window after productive negotiations.

As per the report, the Turkish Super Lig side tried to sign Bayindir in January but were unsuccessful. According to A Spor, a move was close and 'almost finalised’ before it was ultimately blocked.

They retained interest in the 27-year-old, however and a deal looks set to be on the cards - with Besiktas tabling a €5 million (£4 million) offer that United are "receptive" to.

Following a meeting between both parties this week, there is now a belief that Bayandir will be a Besiktas player as soon as the summer transfer window opens.

Bayindir joined United in 2023 from Fenerbahce for a fee of £4.3 million, becoming the club's first ever Turkish player.

He took the No.1 shirt and has played 17 times in all competitions. Initially the understudy to Andre Onana, Bayindir started the season as the first choice in between the sticks and played the first six games of the season in the Premier League.

However, he lost his place after the club completed the signing of Senne Lammens on deadline day.

Having made his debut and kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Sunderland, Belgian Lammens has played every single game and produced a series of impressive goalkeeping displays.

Man United make decision on second goalkeeper

Bayindir last featured in a 3-1 loss to Brentford and barring any injury to Lammens, it looks set to be his final appearance for United.

Incidentally, Onana is currently plying his trade in Turkey after being sent on loan to Trabszonspor days after a dismal performance in the embarrassing Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town on penalties.

He's played 20 times for, Trabzonspor, who are currently third in the league.

The Guardian say that Onana intends to fight for his place and return to United when the loan finishes. But the club appear to have different ideas, with talkSPORT reporting that United do not plan to bring Onana back into the first-team fold.
