Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s speech to his Besiktas players after their 4-1 win against Athletic Club has gone viral.

Solskjaer, 51, was appointed as manager of the Turkish side last Saturday. He has penned an 18-month contract at the Super Lig outfit.

This is his first managerial role since parting company with Manchester United in 2021. He has taken over Besiktas, with them currently sitting sixth in the league.

And although he has to wait until Sunday to manage his first league game against Antalyaspor he has already impressed fans with his speech following his side’s Europa League group phase win against Athletic on Wednesday.

Footage has emerged of his post-match speech.

“That is teamwork and togetherness – that is a proper team,” Solskjaer said.

“It was one of the best feelings I’ve ever had in my life as a coach. I know it’s been difficult. Now, we keep calm and we go to the next one. Next one, next one, next one.

“I’ve got to say thank you and well done,” he added before he led a round of applause for his players.

The win in midweek left his side 24th in the 36-team Europa League group phase.

As things stand, they will secure a play-off place but can confirm this with a victory against FC Twente on Thursday 30 January.

Fans on social media were quick to give their thoughts on the former United striker's speech.

One said: "He's got the vibes."

Another added: "He’s a very loveable man no one can take that away from him."

A third explained: "Great start by Ole Gunnar Solskjær's to win his first game with Besiktas."

While a fourth praised: "Ole’s magic touch is back! What a dream start at Beşiktaş—this could be something special."

Earlier in the week, given his United connection, he was asked about the possibility of signing the out-of-favour Marcus Rashford and Casemiro.

“I’ve come from Manchester United, so there will be transfer news like this,” explained Solskjaer when speaking with Asist Analiz.

“Casemiro and Rashford are very good players, but I haven’t had any contact with them," he explained.

“I enjoyed my time at Manchester United. That chapter is closed. I’m looking forward to working at Besiktas now."
