Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has responded to talk of a potential return to Manchester United as the club look to appoint a caretaker manager following the sacking of Ruben Amorim.
On Monday morning, Amorim was informed of his dismissal after United's leadership team "reluctantly decided" it was the right time to make a change.
Those behind the scenes made the call before Sunday's 1-1 draw against Leeds following a tense meeting between Amorim and Jason Wilcox, the club's director of football, about tactics and transfers.
It was also announced on Monday that former midfielder Darren Fletcher, who is currently in charge of United's under-18 side, will take interim charge for their Premier League clash against Burnley.

Fletcher, however, is not expected to stay in the job for long.

United are hoping to appoint a caretaker for the rest of the 2025-26 campaign before appointing a permanent manager in the summer, with Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner currently the frontrunner.
Meanwhile, a number of names are being floated regarding the caretaker role, including former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who spent three years at the helm before being sacked in November 2021.
Solskjaer memorably led United to 14 wins from 19 matches during an interim spell before getting the job permanently.
And following the dismissal of Amorim, the Norwegian would be interested in becoming United's caretaker until the end of the season, according to Manchester World.
The report adds: "It is not clear if he will feature on the club’s shortlist for the role, but he would be interested in potential discussions over a sensational return to his former club."
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on Monday night, adding: "Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be more than open to return to Manchester United as caretaker manager. He would be happy to help again."

Back in 2024, Solskjaer was asked about a possible return to Old Trafford as pressure mounted on Erik ten Hag. His response as he spoke to around 3,000 people at the Oslo Business Forum spoke volumes.
“If your family asks you, you say yes every day of the week," he said, as per Norwegian outlet VG. "It feels wrong to talk about jobs other people have. But I say yes.”
Solskjaer took charge of 168 games at United, finishing with a win percentage of 54%.
Gary Neville mentions Solskjaer as he sends message to those in charge at Manchester United
Speaking after Amorim's departure, former United defender Gary Neville believes the club must make an appointment that matches the club's so-called "DNA'.
"Manchester United must take risks and play aggressive, attacking football. Manchester United have now got to appoint a manager that fits the DNA of their football club," he said.
"Ajax will never change for anybody; Barcelona will never change for anybody: I don't believe Manchester United should change for anybody. They should play the way in which they play.
"These managers that have come in are fantastic managers - Van Gaal, Mourinho, Ten Hag, Amorim - all brilliant coaches, you can't say they're not good coaches. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But they've all come in with different approaches, different styles of play, different philosophies, and none of them really fit the Manchester United way."
Neville added: "So for me it's about finding a manager with the experience who is willing to play fast, entertaining, aggressive, attacking football, and it's as simple as that."
