There are plenty of unanswered questions surrounding Manchester United right now. Who will be in the dugout when the 2026-27 campaign kicks off? And perhaps more importantly, what will the team look like on August 22?
If reports are to be believed, United are targeting four major signings in the summer, including two midfielders, a left-sided option and a centre-back if Harry Maguire fails to agree a new contract.
Casemiro is on his way out at the end of the season, meaning there will be a noticeable gap in the centre of midfield.
Earlier this week, The Sun claimed United are interested in Sandro Tonali, Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Alex Scott, while the club are in 'advanced talks' to sign Bruno Guimaraes for £69 million, according to Reuters.

Casemiro has reportedly urged United to sign Guimaraes due to his experience and leadership, although the move could be complicated by renewed interest from Real Madrid.

Hayden Hackney, who is expected to be in the frame for the Championship Player of the Season after a superb campaign with promotion-chasing Middlesbrough, has also been mentioned as a potential target.
United interim Michael Carrick, who worked with Hackney during his two-and-a-half-year spell with Boro, is a big fan of the midfielder, with former United scout Mick Brown claiming the player has been "discussed" internally.
The 23-year-old would likely be a cheaper option, too. Boro are said to have slapped a £30 million price tag on his head.
In terms of a left-sided option, it was reported this month that United are preparing an offer worth €80 million (£69m) for Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams.
United have been scouting Williams for months, according to Fichajes, who claim the United hierarchy is 'convinced' that the winger is the 'missing piece to complete a top-tier attacking system'.
Earlier this month, Carrick said United could look to sign a left winger this summer as they look to replace Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford.
Asked if left-wing was an area that needed addressing, Carrick said: "I think you're always looking at the balance of the team and the squad to give you the utmost flexibility, so it's definitely something to look at, for sure."

Finally, United could dip their toes into the market for a centre-back. As well as Maguire's uncertain future, Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt have struggled with injuries this season, while Leny Yoro has played a bit-part role under Carrick.
With that in mind, the Reds have held discussions regarding RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba, according to TEAMtalk.
Lukeba, who is set to have a release clause of €80 million (£69m), favours a move to either the Premier League or La Liga, as per L'Equipe. Arsenal and Chelsea have previously been linked with a move.
