A Manchester United academy prospect who was compared to Jack Grealish is set to leave the club, according to a new report.

Manager Ruben Amorim has made use of United's academy resources since his arrival at Old Trafford, giving Chido Obi, Harry Amass, Shea Lacey and Jack Fletcher, among others, their Premier League debuts.

There have been question marks among some fans over whether those players deserve even more game time, amid criticism over Amorim's management of fellow academy graduate and now senior midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.

Now, another United player who has trained with the first team this season, but is yet to make his debut, is now nearing an exit.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United have received an offer from Turkish club Kayserispor over a permanent deal for winger Sam Mather.

The 21-year-old, who was born in Salford, was in talks with the same club to leave in the summer but the move ultimately fell through.

It is claimed that United are 'willing to make concessions' to allow Mather to depart, and that the player himself wants more first team football.

He has trained regularly with the first team during 2025 but has failed to make a matchday squad, in a clear indication that Amorim sees him as surplus to requirements.

Popular YouTube channel Arena Talks, which uploads compilation videos, likened Mather's movement and ability on the ball to a young Jack Grealish, who is now on loan at Everton from Manchester City.

But unlike Grealish at his first senior club Aston Villa, Mather looks set to move away from United to secure first team football on a regular basis.

Mather may not be the only departure from United this month.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Serie A side Roma are in talks over a loan deal, with an obligation to buy, to sign forward Joshua Zirkzee.

United, however, are said to be waiting to source a replacement before they give the green light to allow the Dutchman, who has fallen behind new signings Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha in the pecking order, to leave.
