Man Utd releases kickstart chain reaction which could seal Wrexham's first dream signing in the Championship

Wrexham could take advantage of the recent development at Manchester United, who confirmed their released players on Monday.

Manchester United confirmed their list of released players and Wrexham could be about to benefit immediately.

After securing a record-breaking third promotion in a row under Phil Parkinson, Wrexham are expected to significantly strengthen their squad ahead of a first season in the second tier since 1982.

A slew of high-profile players with Premier League experience have been linked, with the club said to have around £30 million to spend on new recruits to help bridge the gap between League One and the Championship.

However, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's outfit are also interested in a player who has just become a free agent after his departure from United was confirmed.

On Monday, the Red Devils confirmed that as many as NINE players are leaving the club - including Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof.

The club are still in discussions with Tom Heaton over a new deal but United announced that Jack Kingdon is among a number of younger players moving on.

Kingdon, who had a loan spell with Rochdale as they reached the National League play-offs, has captained Scotland at youth level and has attracted interest from many Championship clubs.

The former Morecambe academy player has Leicester City, Millwall, Derby County and Wrexham queuing up for his signature - according to EFL Analysis.

Kingdon is a central defender by trade but is also capable of filling in at left and right-back. A hugely impressive feature of his game is his speed, which comes from an impressive background in sprinting.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Kingdon won gold medals in the 75, 150 and 600 metre events, at the Bolton United Harriers championships.

He left United without making a single senior appearance but will now be hoping for regular football in a new environment.

Despite having funds available, Wrexham are also poised to use the loan market when it comes to reinforcements - having previously only made a single temporary transfer under Parkinson.

"The loan market is something we are looking at," Parkinson revealed to The Athletic.

"It’s all about touching base with the Premier League loan managers, making sure we have an understanding of who could become available.

“A lot of those players (whose loan spells for 2024-25 have now ended) will probably go back and start pre-season with their clubs because managers like numbers around them for pre-season games. We can probably attract a better calibre of player than we’d have been able to do in the past.”
