Wrexham have started negotiations to sign a Premier League player in what would be a special deal for Ryan Reynolds, reports claim.

The Red Dragons achieved an unprecedented third consecutive promotion last season, finishing second in League One after taking 92 points from 46 games.

Having been outside of the Football League for 15 years, Wrexham will play in the second tier of English football for the first time since 1982 and are expected to make a number of new additions to prepare for life in the Championship.

With strong financial backing from Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham have reportedly held talks with Danny Ings and Ben Davies - while they are also said to have offered contracts to Aaron Cresswell and Craig Dawson - who have a combined total of 615 Premier League appearances under their belt.

But in a new update from the Wrexham Insider, it's emerged that Wrexham have held discussions with the representatives of Bournemouth striker Daniel Jebbison.

Jebbison, formerly of Sheffield United, spent the first half of last season at Watford before being recalled by the Cherries and featuring 21 times in all competitions, scoring three goals.

He is already a man in demand ahead of next season, with it being reported that nearly half of Championship clubs express an interest in the 21-year-old.

Wrexham are one side trying to make a loan deal happen and it would be a significant one for Canadian Reynolds especially, as it would be the first transfer of one of his compatriot to the STok Cas Racecourse since he purchased the club in 2021.

Jebbison was born in Oakville, Ontario and played for England at youth level before switching allegiance to his birth country and making his debut in March.

If a move does come to fruition, Jebbison would become the third Canadian to represent Wrexham in their 161-year history.

Wrexham will make major change to transfer policy

Having only signed one player on loan in his tenure, manager Phil Parkinson has already hinted at Premier League players joining on loan to help Wrexham in the 2025/26 Championship campaign.

"The loan market is something we are looking at," Parkinson told The Athletic.

"It’s all about touching base with the Premier League loan managers, making sure we have an understanding of who could become available.

“A lot of those players (whose loan spells for 2024-25 have now ended) will probably go back and start pre-season with their clubs because managers like numbers around them for pre-season games. We can probably attract a better calibre of player than we’d have been able to do in the past.”
