Andre Onana laughs off claims that he's become 'worst in the world' since joining Manchester United

Andre Onana said he is unhappy with his start to life at Man Utd during a refreshingly honest interview.

Andre Onana is "not happy" with his form for Manchester United but has scoffed at claims of becoming the "worst in the world" after such an impressive campaign at Inter Milan last season.

It has been a tricky start to life in Manchester for the Cameroon international. After arriving for a fee of £47.2 million, many expected Onana to hit the ground running following the much talked about departure of David de Gea.

The 27-year-old has, however, made a string of high-profile errors in recent months, despite showing glimpses of brilliance in between the sticks.

He will be hoping his fortunes change before heading off to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

And ahead of Manchester United's trip to Anfield on Sunday afternoon, Onana believes things will turn around when it comes to his inconsistent performances because "everything is temporary".

In fact, the shot-stopper mentioned his form for Inter Milan last season, when he established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe after helping the Serie A side to a Champions League final.

He conceded just 36 goals in 41 games for the Italian side, keeping 19 clean sheets.

“If I have to speak about my season so far for Manchester United, I am not happy because I know I can do much much better, I've done it and I know I will do it better than what is happening now,” he told Sky Sports ahead of Sunday's game.

“We are not facing a good moment. I hope things will change as soon as possible."

Onana added: "But listen, you want to tell me in six months the best goalkeeper in the Champions League last season can become the worst in the world? Nah.

“Everything is temporary. I know it'll be alright. If not today, it will be tomorrow, if not tomorrow, the day after tomorrow.”

Onana also backed Erik ten Hag, who is under serious pressure as United continue to struggle in all competitions.

“We had a successful period with Ajax,” the goalkeeper said when asked about Ten Hag. “We reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and played brilliant football from the back.

“He’s a good manager. I like the way he works, the way he communicates with the players.”
