Manchester United have issued a response to Alejandro Garnacho undermining Erik ten Hag over his half-time substitution against Bournemouth.

Garnacho was dragged off at the break in last weekend's Premier League fixture at the Vitality Stadium.

With Man United trailing 2-1, Amad Diallo replaced Garnacho as the visitors went onto secure a point after their 2-2 draw.

After the game, the Argentina international liked not one but TWO tweets slamming Ten Hag's decision to take off the winger.

The tweet, posted by Mark Goldbridge, read: "Garnacho has been one of our best players this season. Poor first half but taking him off at half time and holding him up as the problem is a joke. Many have done much worse week in week out and are still out there."

Another post read: "Ten Hag subtly blaming Garnacho in the post match press conference...not a good look throwing a 19 year old under the bus who has actually delivered for you this season. But then again he's clearly scared of upsetting the bigger earners."

According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United have dealt with the situation internally.

A Man United spokesperson declined to clarify whether Garnacho has been outright disciplined as the club confirmed that the player had unliked the tweets.

The 19-year-old has been one of Ten Hag's best performers this season, having played 30 league games, scoring seven goals.

He had a mixed showing against the Cherries, having provided an assist for Bruno Fernandes but lost the ball in the build-up for Dominic Solanke's opener.

On substituting Garnacho, Ten Hag explained: "First half, they were better. They created chances, but the good thing is we returned twice from losing positions.

"This team, the spirit is good, the resilience is good, they showed some character.

"I think we had to repair over the right side. We didn't play well, the spaces were there. In possession, we had to bring a sub there.

"Garnacho was during the week not training. Only yesterday. We thought to bring some energy and bring some more quality, quality in the sense of co-operation and togetherness on that right-hand side."
