Luke Shaw calls Man Utd dressing room 'toxic' as he makes his feelings clear on their Premier League chances

The England full-back gave a very honest assessment.

Luke Shaw has revealed the truth about the atmosphere within the Man Utd dressing room under Ruben Amorim and made a bold prediction for their title chances.

United head into the new season off the back of their worst-ever Premier League performance, finishing 15th with just 42 points.

Ruben Amorim will be under serious pressure to turn the club's fortunes around, and will be hoping new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo are the catalyst for change.

United kicked off their US pre-season tour with a 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday morning in the Premier League summer series, and face Bournemouth and Everton in the coming days.

During their training camp in Chicago, Shaw faced the media and opened up on how difficult it has been for the players over the last couple of seasons.

“It's not hard to see from the outside what it's been like," he began.

“A lot of the time I’ve been here over the last few years it’s been extremely negative.

“It can be quite toxic, the environment, it's not healthy at all," he added.

Shaw explained that it's his role as a senior member of the team to push the players to reach better levels.

“As players, especially the more experienced ones, we need to be demanding more on a day-in, day-out basis," he explained.

“The levels in training, keeping the times of when we're doing this and doing that, making sure no one's coming late or anything - we need to just all up the level of demands.

“That's what Ruben definitely brings in, those demands, especially the mentality."

Shaw also gave a rather surprising answer when asked if United have any hope whatsoever of lifting the title at the end of the season.

"In my opinion yeah. You look at our squad and you think we have such a good squad," he said via The United Stand.

"It's just about unlocking that potential that we have and finding ways to play together and release the potential there that I know our team has.

"I see it in training day in and day out, the quality we have.

He added: "We have such unbelievable players, and we see it in training but it's about showing it in games."
