Fans are only just finding out who Kobbie Mainoo's older brother is amid England call-up

Kobbie Mainoo's older brother will be well-known to some.

Fans are only just realising who the older brother of Kobbie Mainoo is after he was called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate.

In a rare turn of events, Mainoo was added to the Three Lions squad for upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium this month - despite not being named in the 25-man contingent initially.

There are no injuries to other players, meaning Mainoo has simply earned a promotion from the under-21 squad after his impressive recent displays for Manchester United.

Supporters had called on the 18-year-old to be picked in the squad after a breakout campaign under Erik ten Hag, although Southgate indicated that he would be patient with the midfielder.

But a star performance in United's 4-3 FA Cup win over Liverpool appears to have fast-tracked the decision of the England boss, and Mainoo will now join up with the 25 other players in the senior squad at St George's Park.

Speaking after the call-up, Mainoo said: "I was with the under-21s and I got a text from [England assistant] Steve Holland telling me to come and meet him in reception.

"He just told me I've been called up... I don't think it's sunk in yet, but I'm excited. [My family] are all buzzing."

Mainoo quite often posts references to his family on social media - although some fans found out for the first time who his brother was after seeing the 18-year-old's call-up.

His brother is, in fact, Jordan Mainoo-Hames, who starred on the 2019 series of Love Island before going on to work in modelling with fashion giants such as Louis Vuitton.

If you watched the show and maybe aren't instantly recognising the name, that is because the now 29-year-old simply went by 'Jordan Hames' on the show.

The first link to the pair on social media actually came from Mainoo-Hames' account, after watching his younger brother play for United's U15 setup.

He took to X (Twitter) to write: "Proud big bro moment fr."

Mainoo's older brother regularly mentions his younger brother on Instagram and on Instagram Stories - and will no doubt be exceptionally proud to see him in the England squad.
