Alan Keegan, the voice of Old Trafford, delivered a special "born and bred" message after Kobbie Mainoo scored the winner for Manchester United in their 3-2 victory against Liverpool.
It has been a week to remember for Mainoo, who committed his long-term future to United on Thursday (April 30) after penning a new five-year contract.
The 21-year-old was, at one stage, on the verge of leaving his boyhood club after a lack of opportunities under Ruben Amorim, but that has all changed following the arrival of interim Michael Carrick.
In fact, Mainoo has started 13 of the 14 games under Carrick, who was full of praise for the Stockport-born midfielder this week.

"He’s evolved... he’s improving all the time," said Carrick. "I think you can see that, with more confidence, more responsibility, more belief. He keeps adding to his game and he’s certainly done that."
Carrick added: "So just giving him that platform and that opportunity to go and be the best version. As I just said, he’s done fantastic and there’s loads more to come. I keep saying that because he’s just a young man."
Mainoo was once again given a place in United's starting line-up for their clash against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon and once again, he was one of the club's standout performers.
With 77 minutes on the clock, he scored a superb winner from outside the box, arrowing the ball past Freddie Woodman with a controlled finish.
Shortly after Mainoo's effort, stadium announcer Alan Keegan went out of his way to pay tribute to the England international.
Before saying his name over the tannoy, Keegan described him as being "Manchester born and bred", a rare addition to his usual response of simply saying the goalscorer's full name.
Those inside Old Trafford picked up on the announcement, including Tyrone Marshall, who wrote: "Mainoo's first goal since scoring against Lyon. 'Manchester born and bred', announces Alan Keegan. What a week for him."
Alan Keegan recalls first meeting with Kobbie Mainoo
Speaking in an interview with the Irish Post in 2024, long-time stadium announcer Keegan described Mainoo as "Manchester born and bred" as he spoke about their first encounter.
"I'll tell you a story about him. I was introducing him when he was presented with the Young Player of the Year award at Manchester United. We were waiting in the tunnel. He was a great lad, Manchester-born and bred," said Keegan.
"I was tempted to say his name, but I asked him, "How do you say your name? Is it Kobbie" (spelled like Robbie)? He said, "Kobbie (spelled like cob)." I then replied, "Oh, right, like the cob you eat." He said, "Yeah," and started laughing.
"I then asked him, "How do you say your second name? Is it like the month of May?" He then said, "Yeah."
"It's funny; I interviewed his brother during lockdown, who was on Love Island. He told me to look out for his brother, who was making good progress at Manchester United.
"So, I started to look out for him, and I just thought when I saw him play at Old Trafford, this kid is amazing, and the word always was that's why Manchester United didn't sign a midfielder in the summer because we knew about him."

Keegan added: "I'll tell you what's wonderful. I was at the Everton game when he made his debut. I thought he just strolled around with a cigar in his mouth and surely thought, 'This kid isn't this good; how old is he?" He is outstanding."
