Erik ten Hag reportedly made one demand over his new contract as Manchester United manager.

Heading into last month’s FA Cup final between United and Manchester City, it was reported that Ten Hag would lose his job after the match.

However, the Dutchman led his men to victory as United came away 2-1 winners against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Since then, Ten Hag’s future has been the talk of the town as United conducted their end-of-season review.

After weeks of speculation, it was reported on Tuesday night that Ten Hag would continue as United manager.

It has since been claimed that Ten Hag made one demand regarding a potential new contract with the club.

As reported by HITC Football’s Graeme Bailey, the Dutchman wants a decision on a new contract made this summer.

He said, as per United In Focus: “Well, he wants it and they have agreed to talk to him…that is all true.

“I think there is a decent chance, but given how unsure Ineos were – I believe even he knows that even with a new deal, he will be on a short leash and wouldn’t shock me if United try and wait until after the summer – but he wants it before that.”

Looking ahead of pre-season, Ten Hag told the club’s official website: “Pre-season is about preparing for the season and we have to make that our next step.

“It is one of the only times when you have the team together, and you can work in training on structures, the way of play, but also on certain standards around the team and that’s very important to take this period and use it effectively.”

He continued: “We will bring players like Kobbie, who was very unknown by that time, and now everyone knows him.

“So if you want to have the first glimpse of players - maybe new players or young players who are coming up through the Academy, then this is your opportunity.”
