A Real Madrid legend is pushing for his club to sign former teammate Casemiro amid reports he could leave Manchester United this summer.

Despite the fact there is just over a week left in the summer transfer window, it's clear that there are still plenty of deals being worked on ahead of the deadline.

After three months of transfers across Europe and further abroad, the window for Premier League clubs will officially close on September 1, not opening again until January.

One of the clubs that is believed to be working on several deals is Manchester United, who reportedly hope to make several signings while securing sales of current players before the window closes.

Among the United players said to be up for sale is Casemiro, and one of the Brazilian's former Real Madrid teammates is adamant that his current team should pursue a deal.

Casemiro joined United from Real Madrid in a deal worth £60million plus £10m back in August 2022, penning a four year contract with the option of one more at the Premier League club.

In his first season, the Brazilian was a key part of the team, but has since struggled to keep consistent form, leading to regular rumours linking him with a move away from Old Trafford.

And now, a report from Saudi Arabian newspaper Al-Riyadhiah has claimed that the 33-year-old's former teammate Karim Benzema is pushing for Al Ittihad to sign Casemiro this summer.

The outlet claims that the Al Ittihad captain, who has played 265 matches with Casemiro, has recommended him to the team's sports management.

It's not the first time that Casemiro has been linked with the Saudi Pro League, with previous reports suggesting he could join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.

However, it remains unlikely that United would be willing to let the midfielder go unless they can source a replacement for him before the window closes.

In recent weeks, United have been strongly linked with Brighton star Carlos Baleba, with some reports claiming that they would even be willing to pay £100m for his services, but with Brighton unwilling to sell, the move now appears to be off.
