Manchester United will save a significant amount of money this summer if Bruno Fernandes joins several other players in leaving the club.
Fernandes has an offer on the table from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal to make a big-money transfer.
The Athletic claim that the Portugal midfielder is giving 'serious consideration' to the offer, which reportedly will treble the wage he is earning at United.

Speaking before the end of the 2024/25 season, United manager Ruben Amorim repeatedly stated that he wanted to keep his captain at Old Trafford.
But United will now not play in Europe next season after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham last month.
Fernandes is currently part of United's squad as they take part in post-season friendlies in Malaysia and Hong Kong.

His agent, meanwhile, is reportedly in the Middle East to continue talks over the 30-year-old's long-term future.
Should United decide to sell Fernandes, they would lose undoubtedly their best player ahead of a season where they are desperate to return to the continental qualification positions.
The sole positive of losing the midfielder, at least from a business perspective, would be for financial reasons, with The Athletic reporting that Al Hilal are willing to offer a transfer fee of £80 million.
In addition, United would save a total of £46.8 million from Fernandes' current contract, as per salary figures from Capology.

He is not the club's only potential departure this summer, with Alejandro Garnacho reportedly told by Amorim to find a new club.
Garnacho still has a total of £8 million remaining of salary on a contract which runs until 2028.
And striker Rasmus Hojlund has been linked with moves to Inter Milan and Juventus after a season which saw him score just four Premier League goals.

The Dane still has £16.6 million remaining on his contract until 2028.
If all three players depart, therefore, United would effectively save a cool £71.4 million on player wages, coupled with the transfer fees that they would receive for the three players that would likely take them beyond £200 million.
