RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko could be set to have an awkward conversation with a Manchester United player if he signs for Ruben Amorim’s side this summer.
Sesko, 22, has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time, as Arsenal reportedly pursued a transfer last summer before the 22-year-old remained in Germany, where he scored 13 Bundesliga goals in 33 league appearances for RB Leipzig last term.
The forward has since been linked with a move to Newcastle and Manchester United, with the Mail reporting that the Red Devils have made him their priority despite maintaining interest in Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins.
Sesko is thought to have a gentlemen’s agreement with the German side to let him leave for a fee within the region of £60-70 million if an offer is forthcoming.

United have been monitoring Sesko’s progress for a while, and new director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, could hold the key to a deal, having previously worked at Leipzig and the player’s former club, Red Bull Salzburg.

United had initially hoped to sign then-Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap earlier this summer, but the England youth international has since joined Chelsea.
Several other strikers were considered, such as Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, but both were seen as too expensive given United’s current financial situation.

As things stand, United seem Sesko’s most likely destination, but this could mean he may be in for an awkward conversation with a current United star.
Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon joined the Red Devils from Cerro Porteno in January and linked up with his new teammates earlier this month.
Upon his arrival, Leon, 18, was given the number 30 shirt, which was previously worn by Wes Brown, John O’Shea and Matteo Darmian.
However, Sesko has sported the number at both RB Leipzig and Salzburg and will likely want to retain it if he joins United in a big-money deal.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have also joined the Red Devils ahead of what promises to be a defining 2025/26 Premier League campaign for Amorim and his squad.
Last week, Amorim discussed United’s summer transfer dealings.
“They have to want to come here,” Amorim said when asked about potential recruits.

“I think what we can do to the fans is that we want players who have proved [themselves] already. Sometimes you have a player with a lot of potential, you have to be aware of that, but all the players that are coming, we need to know the player. We need to talk to the player, we have to explain the project.
“And then one really important thing is that they want to come here. That is the key point. If during the market we can find someone that can help the team and have all that boxes with them, we are going to do it. If not, we cannot do it because it's an important time in our club.”
