Man Utd player says 'yes' to leaving club as Michael Carrick's summer clearout continues

Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee has agreed to join another club this summer as new head coach Michael Carrick's rebuild continues at pace.

United's primary focus throughout the transfer window so far has been to bolster their midfield depth, with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans signing from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively for a combined fee of over £70 million.

They are also interested in a move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. The Sun claim that Los Blancos are now open to letting the France international leave if they secure the signing of Manchester City star Rodri this summer.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, United have now assigned Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall as a priority target, with the 21-year-old set to compete with Luke Shaw as the club prepare for the additional workload of Champions League football this season.

On the outgoings front, United have already allowed five players to leave the club, with high earners Casemiro and Jadon Sancho departing as free agents.

Tyrell Malacia has also been released, while Rasmus Hojlund has joined Napoli on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell last season. Andre Onana has moved on a second successive season-long loan to Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Hojlund may be joined by one of his former striking rivals in Serie A, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that Juventus have received an 'initial yes' from the representatives of Netherlands forward Zirkzee over a summer move.

Juve are set to seal the signing of Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain but are said to want another striker, with the club keen to move on Canada's World Cup star Jonathan David.

It is reported that Zirkzee has 'several suitors in Europe', but the opportunity to move to Juve is described as 'one of the ones that most intrigued him'.

The report adds that the 25-year-old 'enjoyed his time in Italy', having previously played for Bologna, and 'would gladly return if he were to move from Manchester'.

David must first leave Juve before the move, said to be an initial loan deal, could proceed, with the Italian giants operating on an effective 'one in, one out' policy due to a settlement agreement with UEFA.

Zirkzee only managed five goals across his two Premier League seasons at United following his move from Bologna in 2024.

He played under Erik ten Hag - who brought him to the club - as well as Ruben Amorim and Carrick, and was barely used by the latter after he took interim charge in January.

In fact, he started just one Premier League match, a 0-0 draw against Sunderland in April, and made nine short cameo appearances from the bench between Carrick's arrival and the season's end.

He has been part of United's European pre-season training camp and scored in their 5-0 win over Rosenborg in Norway on July 24.
