Andre Onana gives his brutally honest take on the Anfield atmosphere in post-match interview

Andre Onana gives his brutally honest take on the Anfield atmosphere in post-match interview

Man Utd goalkeeper Andre Onana made his feelings known on the atmosphere.

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana says he "felt nothing" as he spoke about the atmosphere inside Anfield.

They may have had 34 shots against Erik ten Hag's side on Sunday but title contenders Liverpool failed to find the net as they picked up a frustrating point.

Despite creating 23 more chances than United, the mood inside Anfield was flat. Gary Neville, who was on commentary duty for Sky Sports, noticed how quiet it was during the game.

“I have to say, this is by far the worst atmosphere I’ve ever seen at Anfield for a Manchester United game," the former United full-back said.

"It’s really, really quiet so far, other than the first five minutes where they were up for it."

Neville wasn't the only one to pick up on the lack of atmosphere inside Anfield. After the full-time whistle, Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana gave his take on the noise levels.

As reported by MUTV reporter Sam Homewood, the Cameroon international said he "felt nothing” when questioned.

Onana, who completed the most passes of any United player against Liverpool, was also approached by Virgil van Dijk as he made his way to the dressing room.

Van Dijk said because of the goalkeeper, they only played a half hour game. Onana is said to have responded with a smile, according to talkSPORT's Alex Crook.

Ahead of Sunday's clash, Andre Onana said he is "not happy" with his recent form but has scoffed at claims of becoming the "worst in the world" after such an impressive campaign at Inter Milan last season.

In fact, the 27-year-old believes things will turn around when it comes to his inconsistent performances because "everything is temporary".

He told Sky Sports: "If I have to speak about my season so far for Manchester United, I am not happy because I know I can do much much better, I've done it and I know I will do it better than what is happening now.

“We are not facing a good moment. I hope things will change as soon as possible."

Onana added: "But listen, you want to tell me in six months the best goalkeeper in the Champions League last season can become the worst in the world? Nah.

"Everything is temporary. I know it'll be alright. If not today, it will be tomorrow, if not tomorrow, the day after tomorrow.”
