Manchester City captain Kyle Walker didn't hesitate when naming the best right-back in the world right now.

The 34-year-old captained City to their fourth consecutive Premier League title earlier this month, as part of a leadership group that also contains Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Rodri and Bernardo Silva.

Walker has been one of the most consistent right-backs on the planet since arriving at City in 2016, with his defensive game developing significantly to go alongside his searing pace.

It's quite apt, therefore, that his new podcast is called 'You'll Never Beat Kyle Walker' - a homage to the fact that, if you start a footrace against Walker, the vast majority of players aren't going to win it.

On the podcast, co-hosted by Love Island star and TV presenter Chris Hughes, Walker was asked about his main competitors in the battle to be the best right-back in the football world.

And the City star had zero hesitation when naming who he believes currently holds the right to be called the best in their position.

He said: "Reece James.

"He's just got everything. Everything. If I could make the complete right-back, it would be him.

"Defend, attack, technically, both feet, dead ball situations. Quick.

"If I was to build a right-back, I'd go with my strength, Achraf Hakimi's pace, Joao Cancelo's technical ability, Trent Alexander-Arnold's passing. Dani Carvajal's mentality.

"And I think Reece James' football brain. Because he played in midfield for a long time. But if I was to round them all up in one, I'd say Reece. He's got a bit of everything."

James' season has been blighted by injury, with the Blues captain missing out on England's provisional Euro 2024 squad as a result.

His best season for Chelsea was in 2021/22, when he scored five and assisted nine goals during a superb individual campaign.

After missing much of the second half of the most recent season through injury, the 24-year-old registered an assist on his return against Nottingham Forest but was then sent off during a 2-1 win over Brighton.
