A top Liverpool journalist has confirmed that the club have ruled out three big Premier League names linked with a move to Anfield.

After Liverpool won the Premier League title with a victory over Spurs at Anfield, fans have immediately started thinking about the upcoming transfer window and how the team may set up for their title defence next season.

Arne Slot's side have been linked with several big players in recent weeks, with the likes of Newcastle United star Alexander Isak and Bournemouth pair Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez all said to be on the list of targets.

However, a new report has come out to set the record straight as it has put to bed any links between Liverpool and three other Premier League stars who were said to be on Slot's transfer shortlist.

Although Liverpool will want to reinforce several areas of their squad, with the likes of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz linked with moves away this summer, it's clear that the top priority will be in attack.

As such, the Reds have been linked with dozens of the best attacking talents from across England and abroad, but the Daily Mail's Lewis Steele has confirmed that three players initially believed to be targets aren't even on Liverpool's radar.

According to Steele, Aston Villa superstar Morgan Rogers, Brighton striker Joao Pedro and the in-demand Liam Delap are not on Liverpool's shortlist at this stage, despite recent reports linking them with a summer move to Anfield.

Rogers has enjoyed the best season of his career having joined in February last year, scoring 14 goals and assisting 13 in all competitions.

Pedro, despite several injuries, has managed 10 goals and seven assists for Brighton this season, while Delap's reported £30million relegation release clause is said to have attracted interest from Manchester City and Chelsea.

But it appears Liverpool have ruled out all three men, with Steele confirming that Xavi Simons and Benjamin Sesko were watched by scouts over the weekend, while Hugo Ekitike remains a possibility, despite his expected costly price tag.

Regardless of who Liverpool decide to pursue in the summer, Slot is confident that he and sporting director Richard Hughes will be able to get deals done, especially after taking home their 20th domestic title.

Speaking after the title-winning victory over Spurs, Slot said: “To experience this once is really nice. But we would love to experience it one more time.

“It definitely helps to attract new players as well because mostly the players that we want, we are not the only club who thinks they are good players, so they have more options. Then maybe it helps for them to see that the way we do things here is special.

"Until now, if I spoke to players who we wanted to bring in, I always told them that our fans are really special and it is special to play at this club. But after Sunday I don’t think I ever have to tell anyone again how special our fans are because that was unbelievable.”
