Steven Gerrard had no doubts when asked if England legends Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes were better than him

The Liverpool legend has finally had his say on the famous debate.

Steven Gerrard has finally given his thoughts on the debate over who is better between him Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes.

During England's 'Golden Generation' in the 2000s, the Three Lions boasted some of the very best midfielders ever to play in the Premier League.

While they played for rival clubs throughout their careers, the likes of Gerrard, Scholes and Lampard all played together in an impressive national team that also boasted players like Wayne Rooney and David Beckham.

Of course, representing England together has led to fans of their respective clubs often debating which of the three midfield greats was the best, but now it appears that Gerrard himself knows the answer.

Although they failed to win a major trophy together with England, all three men were highly successful with their clubs winning some of the biggest trophies in football including the Champions League.

One argument often made against Gerrard when comparing him to Scholes and Lampard is that fact that he is the only one of the three who never won the Premier League, despite coming agonisingly close in the 2013/14 season.

But clearly this isn't something that the Liverpool legend thinks undermines his impressive career, as he showed no hesitation when putting himself above both of his rivals in a game of 'stay silent until you hear a better player.'

While appearing on the FutCrunch channel, Gerrard stayed quiet as he was asked:"Pedri?

"Rice?

"Mac Allister?

"Bruno Fernandes?

"Lampard?

"Scholes?"

But after Scholes, Gerrard started to make some murmurs once Manchester City pair Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden were named, before confidently admitting that Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham was a better player than him.

Paul Scholes weighs in on the Gerrard and Lampard debate

Gerrard isn't the only one who was given his opinion on who is the best of the three Premier League rivals and, perhaps surprisingly, he agrees with Gerrard.

While he being interviewed on Rio Ferdinand's FIVE podcast, Scholes comments on his former England teammate despite him playing for Manchester United's closest rivals, shows exactly how good the Liverpool captain was.

When asked who was the better player out of him and Gerrard, he said: “I can answer that. Gerrard. Gerrard’s a great player."

Scholes added: “We’re different, we’re very different… he’s an athlete. I think he’s more of a match winner. But, he was playing in a team where he probably had to be.

"I was more part of a team. He was more individual I think. I wouldn’t be able to do what he did at Liverpool. Whether he could’ve done it at United, I don’t know. I don’t see why not. But I couldn’t have done what he did at Liverpool, no.”
