Mohamed Salah's Egypt teammate has revealed that he could make a stunning return to Liverpool just days after leaving the club.
Following the final game of the 2025/26 Premier League season, Liverpool legend Salah called time on his career at the club, leaving Anfield by mutual consent.
Salah left Liverpool after nine record-breaking years leading to him becoming the third-highest goalscorer in Liverpool history, with a total of 257 in all competitions.
The winger signed a two-year extension to his contract last April but decided to end it a season early amid reports he had fallen out with former manager Arne Slot.

But, after it was confirmed that Slot had been sacked by the club just days after the end of the season questions have been raised about if the decision could impact Salah's decision to leave Liverpool.
Following Salah's departure, there has been no word on where he will go next, as he instead focuses on representing Egypt at the ongoing 2026 World Cup in North America.
And ahead of Egypt's opening fixture against Belgium on Monday night in the Seattle Stadium, goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy, a close friend of Salah's, appeared to suggest that a return to Liverpool could be on the cards.
“He spent a long time there. He got used to the club, gave them everything, lived many happy moments there, won a lot of trophies,” the goalkeeper told Egyptian broadcaster ON Sport.
“Naturally, leaving would affect him. That’s normal.
“But who knows? Maybe things could still change and he could stay. Nobody knows.
“He said exactly: ‘Honestly, I still don’t know.’ That’s what he told me. So I really don’t know where he’ll go. He hasn’t made a decision yet.”
Of course the news comes as a complete surprise to Liverpool fans who already said an emotional goodbye to the club legend but could potentially see him return weeks later under the leadership of new manager Andoni Iraola.
However, shortly after the news appeared online, Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, issued a statement addressing his client's future.
"Mohamed is doing perfectly fine and neither he nor I prefer to discuss sensitive future plans with people not involved in them," he wrote on X.
"Both he and I are very private about these things. Yes, people may ask and they may get a standard polite response but that’s about it."
Dejan Lovren claims Salah would have ‘100% stayed’ at Liverpool without Arne Slot
El-Shenawy's comment appear to further add fuel to the rumours that Salah's decision to leave Liverpool was heavily influence by his relationship with former boss Slot.
On several occasions under the Dutchman's leadership, Salah publicly expressed his frustration, most notably during a fiery interview in December following the 3-3 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road.
And when asked if he thought Salah would have continued with Liverpool next season if Slot had left the club earlier, former teammate Dejan Lovren didn't hold back.
He said: "Yes, he would have stayed 100%. Believe me, he would have stayed 100%.
"I know it, but the timing was bad. Only an idiot would say we don’t need him anymore."
Lovren added: “I mean, you say you don’t need Mohamed Salah at Liverpool when he can still perform for another two or three years at the highest level, then we have trouble understanding football.”
The former Liverpool defender also gave an insight into Salah and Slot's relationship, adding: “I don’t think it’s management, I think it’s just one person, and I think it’s just the coach."
He continued: “They didn’t have a good relationship, let’s just say it as it is, with Klopp he had a really beautiful relationship.
“They weren’t always perfect, but they knew each other well, let’s say that too, they trusted each other, they loved each other, they did everything on the pitch for Klopp, and Klopp gave him confidence, but (with Slot) everything was the opposite."
