The shirts of two Manchester United legends are proudly displayed inside Anfield despite Liverpool's fierce rivalry with the club.
Few fixtures in world football carry the weight of Liverpool against Manchester United.
For decades, the pair have traded dominance of English football between them. Liverpool ruled the 1970s and 80s, amassing league titles and European Cups until Sir Alex Ferguson arrived and delivered 13 Premier League titles in 27 years which shifted the balance of power to Old Trafford and drove Liverpool's obsession with ending their own league drought. Jurgen Klopp's side finally claimed the title in 2020, ending a 30-year wait, before Arne Slot added another in his debut season after the legendary German had departed.
It is a fixture that has produced legends on both sides — players whose performances in this game alone have cemented their place in club folklore. Yet for all the animosity, Anfield pays quiet tribute to the very best who have graced it, regardless of which shirt they wore.

Across the decades long rivalry with Liverpool, some of United's best-ever players have travelled to Anfield for a fiery clash with the Reds.
Among them, are Roy Keane and Cristiano Ronaldo, who both have their shirts hanging from the walls of the Anfield away changing room alongside the shirts of several other footballing greats.
The reason for this is because Liverpool, while the home changing room displays the shirts of the current first team, the away changing room shows off the shirts of some of the biggest opposition names to play at Anfield.
In the case of Keane and Ronaldo, they earned their spot in the away changing room after Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher picked them as two of the greatest players he has ever faced.
Other big names that can be seen in the changing room are Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry, Gianluigi Buffon, Fabio Cannavaro and several others.

Carragher's selection of Ronaldo may come as a surprise to some given the fact he has often criticised the Portuguese striker, claiming that he is nowhere near the level of long-term rival Messi.
However, while speaking to Football365 last year, he discussed just how great the striker was: "Ronaldo became a great player at United.
“In his last two years he was the main man. But when he initially came in, United had so many great players that he wasn’t going to be one you built a team talk around. He never really gave us too many problems.
“It always fascinates me with Ronaldo – I would describe him as one of the greatest goalscorers of all time, but normally when other players fall into that category they’re goalscorers their whole life, from the first time they kick a ball.
"Ronaldo wasn’t. He almost made himself a goalscorer. That’s down to his work ethic and his mental strength. That, for me, has always been his biggest quality."
