Sheffield United defender Jack Robinson had a brilliant response to his own fans singing 'feed the Scousers' during their clash against Liverpool.

The Blades' dismal start to their Premier League campaign continued against Jurgen Klopp's side on Wednesday, as they lost 2-0 to remain rock bottom of the table.

Virgil van Dijk's bullet header on the stroke of half-time gave Liverpool the lead, before summer signing Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the three points in stoppage time

However, the defeat didn't stop Sheffield United fans singing the infamous 'Feed the Scousers' chant at the travelling supporters.

The chant, which is sung to the tune of Band Aid's Christmas song 'Feed the World' has been around since 1984 when the Christmas hit was first released.

However, Robinson was less impressed by his supporters' antics, and appeared to bluntly turn around to the crowd and say: "I'm a scouser!"

Indeed, the 30-year-old defender started his career at Anfield in 2009, before going out on loan to Wolves, Blackpoool and Huddersfield, eventually earning a permanent move to Queens Park Rangers in 2014.

After a two-year spell at Nottingham Forest, Robinson moved to Bramall Lane where he has been for the past five seasons, playing a key role in their promotion back into the top-flight.

Speaking after the defeat, new manager Chris Wilder admitted he was "proud" of his players for their performance.

“I’m proud but it can’t be a one‑off,” Wilder said. “We can’t just have the new manager bounce. We asked the question of Liverpool, we made it a difficult game and I’m a little disappointed we’ve not got a result out of it.”

Barring an awkward exchange with Amazon Prime presenter Marcus Buckland, Klopp was also full of praise for his squad at full-time.

“I’m really pleased with the result,” the German said. “I’m pleased with a lot of aspects of the game. I know we can play better football but at this time of the year you play, hopefully win, recover and play again.”
