Liverpool fans think it's time for two players to leave after disasterclass vs AC Milan in pre-season

Liverpool were in action against AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday.

Liverpool fans have been reacting on social media after watching the Reds' pre-season match against AC Milan.

On Saturday, Liverpool's pre-season fixtures continued as they took on Italian Serie A giants Milan at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong.

Arne Slot gave Florian Wirtz his Reds debut and the German showed glimpses of what he is capable of.

However, Milan came away 4-2 winners thanks to a brace by Noah Okafor, plus goals from Rafael Leao and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo were the scorers for Liverpool.

Reacting to their team's defeat on social media, Liverpool fans were less than impressed with the performances put in by Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton, who were part of England's squad that won the U21 Euros earlier this summer.

One fan said: "Elliott and Morton need to be flogged ASAP."

Another tweeted: "People watch this 1st half and are angry that Elliott/Morton don't get enough minutes. West Ham, I am begging you."

A third fan added: "Just let Morton & Elliott go."

Someone else wrote: "Elliott and Morton. Thank you for your services."

A fifth commented: "Morton is not ready for the first team. Elliott shows why Slot does not trust him."

Another fan said: "Harvey Elliott sell. Tyler Morton sell."

Despite criticism from fans, Morton did manage to complete the most passes (62) in the match against Milan, with a success rate of 94 per cent.

During what has been a busy transfer window for the Reds, both Elliott and Morton have been linked with a move away, clubs such as Wolves, West Ham United and Newcastle United all reportedly interested.

Speaking after the match, Slot was asked about his defensive options after Joe Gomez left the tour due to injury.

The Liverpool boss said: "I don’t think we have a concern at centre back (looking at Virgil van Dijk). Ryan showed he can play that position, he did it as well although we favour him as a No 6.

"Wata Endo can play there. So we have enough options but it is true that Jarell Quansah left and we haven’t replaced him yet."

Liverpool are back in action on Wednesday when they take on Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan.
