Jamie Carragher still hasn't got over one small part of his Liverpool career - and one of his former team-mates suffers for it whenever he signs a team photo.

Carragher spent his entire professional career at Liverpool between 1996 and 2013, having come through their youth academy.

He racked up over 700 appearances and though he never won the Premier League, he did lift the Champions League trophy in 2005.

On that infamous and iconic night in Istanbul, Liverpool came from 3-0 down against AC Milan after a first half header from Paolo Maldini and a quickfire brace from Hernan Crespo.

Even the most optimistic Liverpool fans would have believed a comeback would be nigh-on impossible, but the Reds remarkably fought back and scored three second half goals in seven minutes through Steven Gerrard, substitute Vladimir Smicer and Xabi Alonso.

Jerzy Dudek's heroics in the penalty shootout meant Liverpool went on to win, and although it was a memorable night for the Reds, there was one moment afterwards that Carragher still remembers.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, brought to you by Sky Bet, in May, Carragher recalled: "One of my regrets about when Stevie [Gerrard] lifted the trophy is that I'm not in any picture. I'm at the back stretching my calf, I'm getting cramp at the end of the game.

"There is a shot from up above, and you see players who have only played two games. The right-back, Josemi, is in every picture, and I'm stretching my calf at the back and I'm thinking, 'Oh my God'.

"Whenever I sign a picture [of that squad], I'm signing over Josemi's head."

Josemi arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2004, becoming Benitez's first signing as Liverpool manager in a £2 million deal.

He made 28 starts in all competitions, and started in four of the Champions League group games in 2004/05 but was an unused substitute in the final.

The Spaniard left Liverpool on the first day of the January transfer window in 2006, with midfielder Jan Kromkamp going the other way.

After four-and-a-half more years in Spain, Josemi moved to Greek side Iraklis in 2010 and ended his career in the Indian Super League with Atletico Kolkata before retiring aged 36 in 2016.
