Liverpool may have been dealt a massive injury blow after fans noticed one star player didn't travel with his teammates for the Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

On Monday night, Premier League champions Liverpool travel to St James' Park to face Newcastle United in what is expected to be one of the most fiery away days in recent years.

Given the current situation regarding Newcastle's star striker Alexander Isak and his attempts to force a move to Liverpool, tensions are expected to be high when both teams arrive for the Premier League match.

With one week left in the transfer window, it remains unclear if Isak will get his dream move to Anfield or will be forced to reintegrate with his Newcastle teammates over the coming weeks, with the fallout of Monday's match potentially playing a key role.

However, Liverpool may have to hope that they can win without one of their most important players after fans noticed that he did not appear to be on the team bus for the Newcastle match.

Liverpool's season opening fixture against Bournemouth at Anfield ended as a 4-2 win for Arne Slot's side, with a brace from Antoine Semenyo putting pressure on Liverpool in their first Premier League match as defending champions.

And it appears the pressure could be applied once again on Monday night, as Liverpool could be forced to play without Alexis Mac Allister in midfield as footage of the team bus arriving in Newcastle suggests he may not be fit for the game.

In footage shared by rsgwmemorabilia on TikTok, the Liverpool squad can be seen arriving at their team hotel ahead of the match against Newcastle, with the likes of Mohamed Salah and captain Virgil van Dijk leaving the bus.

But fans have expressed concerns as Mac Allister was not seen arriving with his teammates, suggesting that he may not be available for the crucial clash at St James' Park.

With the trip to Newcastle immediately followed by a home clash with title rivals Arsenal on Sunday, now would be a particularly bad time for Slot to lose such a key player in Mac Allister.

However, some fans have pointed out that the Argentine international could be travelling to the game by himself or could be absent for one match if his partner Ailen Cova, who is currently pregnant, has gone into labour.

And while Mac Allister could miss out on the game, Liverpool fans were happy to see Northern Ireland international Conor Bradley was among the players that arrived on the team bus, suggesting he could be available for selection following a recent hamstring injury.
