Harvey Elliott linked with shock move that nobody saw coming as 'talks confirmed'

Harvey Elliott has been linked with a move to a shock club as his Liverpool career looks to be coming to an end.

Elliott, 22, is one of the most popular players among the Reds fanbase due to his love for the club.

The Englishman has previously revealed that he is a Liverpool fan and would stay at the club forever if he could.

Speaking back in June, Elliott said: "Nothing makes me want to leave.

"I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But as I said, most importantly, it’s just about what’s best for my career."

However, due to a lack of regular game time, the midfielder is set to move away from Anfield this summer.

So far, Elliott has been linked with the likes of Brighton and Hove Albion, West Ham United, Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, it was claimed on Tuesday night that German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have joined the race to sign Elliott.

The Athletic's David Ornstein wrote on social media: "RB Leipzig speaking to Liverpool about possible move for Harvey Elliott. Situation at early stage but #RBLeipzig exploring + clubs talking. 22yo #LFC midfielder seen as potential replacement for Xavi Simmons."

It has been suggested that Liverpool would entertain a bid in excess of £40 million if a buy-back option is included.

However, if potential suitors are unwilling to insert a buy-back clause, the Reds are looking to bring in £50 million for the young Englishman.

Elliott impressed during this summer's U-21 Euros, where he was named Player of the Tournament after scoring five goals and helping England defend their title.

On Monday, the 22-year-old scored what could be his final goal in a Liverpool shirt during a 4-1 win over Athletic Bilbao at Anfield.

He was also seen applauding the crowd and blowing a kiss towards The Kop, which some fans have read as a 'goodbye'.

Arne Slot's men are back in action this weekend when they take on Crystal Palace in the FA Community Shield final at Wembley.

Liverpool will then begin the defence of their Premier League crown against Bournemouth at Anfield on August 15.
