Footage of the scene surrounding the fatal car crash that killed Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva has emerged - showing how the car initially left the road.

The crash, which happened in Zamora, northwestern Spain, occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The Spanish Guardia Civil have stated that, as per their initial findings, the car suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking and subsequently left the road.

It then caught fire and, according to witnesses who called the emergency 1-1-2 service, became 'engulfed in flames'.

Jota, 28, and his 26-year-old brother, who was also a professional footballer, were identified as the victims of the crash.

Tributes have flooded in from across the footballing world and beyond, with Liverpool stating: "Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.

"The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.

"Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre's family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss.

"We will continue to provide them with our full support."

Jota, who had three children, married Rute Cardoso on June 22.

He joined Liverpool from fellow Premier League side Wolves in 2020, and scored 65 goals for the club in all competitions.

Jota won a Premier League title with the Reds earlier this year, following on from FA Cup and EFL Cup successes in 2022.

He was also part of the Liverpool side that were runners-up in the Champions League in 2022.

Away from football, Jota was an avid gamer and was once ranked as the number one player on FIFA's Weekend League.

He subsequently established his own esports team, which he personally competed for on a number of occasions.

He was also a fan of snooker and attended the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible earlier this year.
