Liverpool supporters think the club could soon sign an eighth player of the summer after a well-respected journalist published details of a flight on social media.

Arne Slot’s squad has already been significantly bolstered by seven signings this summer, as Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong have both arrived from Bayer Leverkusen, Milos Kerkez joined from Bournemouth before Hugo Ekitike made the switch from German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Meanwhile, goalkeepers Armin Pecsi, Freddie Woodman and Giorgi Mamardashvili have also made the move to Merseyside.

Several players have also left Liverpool, with attackers Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez among the notable departees.

The Premier League champions’ interest in Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak is well documented. The Reds previously tabled a bid worth £110m plus add-ons for the Swede two weeks ago, but the offer was rejected by the northeast club.

Isak, 25, was omitted from the Magpies’ pre-season tour of Asia, and according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, “Isak regards his career at St James’s Park as finished and has no desire to reintegrate into the squad”.

Newcastle have maintained that the player is not for sale this summer, although Ornstein reported that the club’s stance may soften if an offer of £150 million arrives.

This comes after Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk urged the club to bring in an attacker following his side’s penalty shootout defeat against Crystal Palace in the FA Community Shield on Sunday.

"I think there's always room for an attacker in order to strengthen us, so let's see what the window brings in terms of the balance of the team,” Van Dijk told talkSPORT.

Then, on Tuesday, journalist Nicholas Biebar sent Liverpool fans into a frenzy after posting information about a private jet on X.

Bieber wrote: “Private jet is scheduled to fly from Antwerp (where Isak's agent lives) to Newcastle tomorrow.”

And Liverpool supporters had their say on social media.

One said: “Might be to submit a transfer request.”

Another added: “Isak Chase: part 3 (Finale) Time to wrap this series up.”

A third commented: “Hopefully, this transfer request.”
