A Liverpool star is reportedly angling for a move due to being unhappy with how he is being treated by head coach Arne Slot but his future depends on a team-mate.
With Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson’s departures already confirmed, Liverpool will likely be active in this summer’s transfer market, with the side hoping to bounce back from a disappointing season after finishing fifth, which has piled pressure on Slot.
Despite spending almost £450 million on the transfers of Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz last summer, Liverpool flattered to deceive, with only Ekitike impressing before suffering an Achilles injury in April.
Alongside Ekitike, Isak, Frimpong and Wirtz also endured stop-start seasons due to several injury issues, while goalkeeper Alisson missed 12 Premier League matches through injury, allowing Georgia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili an opportunity to fill in, with the 25-year-old making 20 appearances in all.
Mamardashvili open to loan move
However, Mamardashvili is reportedly unhappy with his role at Anfield, as Slot remains keen for Alisson to stay as his first-choice goalkeeper next term.

As a result, the Georgian is keen on a loan move, with InterNews suggesting Serie A champions Inter as a potential destination, while Juventus may also offer him a temporary route away from Anfield, despite the Turin club also being interested in Alisson.
Mamardashvili’s potential loan move appears to depend on whether Alisson remains at Liverpool next season, with journalist Fabrizio Romano revealing what he knows while speaking on his YouTube channel on Wednesday (May 27).
“The situation is now being clarified because Liverpool, in the last 24 hours, have informed Alisson officially, and those close to him, that they don’t want him to go,” Romano said.
“So, at the moment, the deal is completely off with Juventus. It’s still early, it’s still the end of May, there are three months. I don’t know if Alisson can one day show up at the training ground and say, ‘I want to leave, let me go to Juventus’. But at the moment, that’s not the case; the relationship between Alisson and Liverpool is excellent, so he doesn’t want to damage the legacy he has built.
“If Alisson stays, then it could eventually be the case that Mamardashvili goes out on loan for one season to play regularly before returning to Liverpool in 2027 as the starting goalkeeper, replacing Alisson. This is something the club has to decide, but at the moment, they are completely focused on stopping this deal for Alisson.
“They have no intention of letting him go despite him having a big proposal on the table from Juventus.”
Mamardashvili, who supposedly expected to become the first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield at the start of next season, is contracted to Liverpool until 2031 and reportedly earns £85,000 per week, making him the club’s 15th-highest earner.
