Liverpool will have to pay Arne Slot a huge amount of money if they decide to part ways with the Dutchman.

Slot, 47, replaced Jurgen Klopp last summer and hit the ground running straight away, leading the Reds to the Premier League title at the first time of asking.

This summer, Slot spent more than £400 million on the likes of Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.

Many expected Liverpool to be the team to beat after their summer spending spree; however, they have been desperately poor in recent weeks.

Following back-to-back 3-0 defeats in the Premier League, Liverpool dismal form continued on Wednesday night at Anfield as they were battered by Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League.

Goals from Ivan Perisic and Guus Til, plus a brace from Couhaib Driouech, secured a famous 4-1 win for Peter Bosz's side. Dominik Szoboszlai was the scorer for Liverpool.

As a result, Slot is now under mounting pressure to turn Liverpool's fortunes around.

It is clear that a large number of Liverpool fans are beginning to lose faith in Slot, with some asking the club to take action before it's too late.

How much would Liverpool have to pay Arne Slot?

Now, unless Slot decides to resign, he will be entitled to a substantial sum if Liverpool sack him.

Last summer, Slot reportedly signed a contract until 2027 worth £6.6 million per year - as well as handsome trophy-related bonuses.

Effectively, if Liverpool were to sack Slot imminently if results do not improve, then they would be required to pay up more than £10 million to the 47-year-old.

What has Arne Slot said about his future?

After the defeat by PSV, Slot was asked whether he feels his job is in danger.

He said: "I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from above.

"It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked. I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around."

Liverpool are back in Premier League action this weekend when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
