Liverpool could receive a massive boost in their hopes of signing Alexander Isak thanks to a shock Manchester United transfer.

Despite reports suggesting that Liverpool are closing in on a British record deal for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, it is believed that Slot's business in the transfer window is not yet done.

Earlier in the window, the Reds announced that they had completed the signing of Wirtz's former teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who will come into Slot's side as Trent Alexander-Arnold's replacement.

Once the deal for Wirtz is announced, it is believed that Liverpool will turn their attention to Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez, before looking at options for a new striker, with Newcastle United's Isak the ideal target.

Although it was initially believed that Isak was not for sale, recent reports have suggested that Liverpool are not willing to give up their pursuit of the Swedish international, and a new report claims they could be handed a major boost thanks to Manchester United.

While Liverpool focus on new singings in the early part of the transfer window, United appear to be giving most of their attention to selling players.

After securing a deal for ex-Wolves striker Matheus Cunha, United are now considering their options for selling the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho.

According to a new report from The Sun, Newcastle have emerged as one of the favourites to sign Rashford this summer, despite interest from the likes of Barcelona.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is said to have been impressed by the England international during his recent spell with Aston Villa, and would like to bring him to St James' Park on a season long loan.

Should they complete a deal for Rashford, it could open the door for Newcastle to sell Isak this summer with Howe bringing another star forward to the club.

Alternatively, singing a new winger could mean that the Magpies would be willing to let Anthony Gordon, who has also been regularly linked with Liverpool, leave in the summer.

However, the report claims that, as it stands, Howe would view Rashford as a squad player to rotate with Isak, and not a replacement.
