Liverpool supporters were quick to offer their thoughts on social media after training footage of Alexander Isak was released.
Isak, 25, finally signed for Liverpool on transfer deadline day for a British record fee of £125m, bringing a summer-long saga to a close by penning a six-year contract with the Premier League champions.
The Swede has not played a competitive match since he featured in Newcastle’s 1-0 home defeat against Everton on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign.
For much of the window, Isak kept a low profile until he released a bombshell statement in which he accused Newcastle of breaking promises, which the club denied.

But one man who was in contact with Isak throughout the saga was Sweden’s head coach, Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Dahl Tomasson, 49, has a close relationship with the 25-year-old and still named Isak in his squad for upcoming international fixtures against Slovenia and Kosovo despite the striker’s lack of action.
Several other Premier League stars, including Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres, Newcastle winger Anthony Elanga, Spurs midfielder Lucas Bergvall, Newcastle defender Emil Krafth and Leeds United left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson, are also in the Sweden squad ahead of the next round of World Cup qualifiers.

The group are currently preparing for Friday’s clash with Slovenia in Ljubljana, with training footage released on Sweden’s official social media channels.
And as expected, all eyes were on how Isak shaped up after his time away from the game.
A clip of Isak was released by Sweden on X, and it’s got fans excited.
One fan said: “To think he hasn't played for 3 months and he is so sharp is crazy work. Can't wait for the league to resume already.”

Another added: “Omfgggg he's looking more vicious.”
A third claimed: “I’ve seen all I need to see start him vs Burnley.”
While a fourth commented: “He’s going to score 30 goals this season minimum”
For fans of the Premier League, Isak is arguably one of the most well-known players in recent seasons, but according to former Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Toni Kroos, some German supporters are unaware of who the Liverpool forward is despite his goalscoring exploits.

Speaking alongside his brother Felix on his podcast, the 2014 World Cup winner said: “I trust our listeners, but I’d say that roughly half of them have never even heard of Isak. Judge for yourselves. Seriously.”
He added: “It’s a lot of money, without a doubt.”
Isak previously played in Germany during his time with Borussia Dortmund between 2017 and 2019 – although he made just 13 senior appearances for the Bundesliga side.
