Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak could reignite as Newcastle United have been ‘offered’ the opportunity to sign a top European striker, but there’s a catch.
Isak, 25, has been the subject of interest from Liverpool throughout the summer transfer window, with the Reds seeing a £110m plus add-ons bid rejected by the Magpies last week.
And it’s fair to say the transfer window has been challenging for the northeast club, who have already signed right winger Anthony Elanga, left winger Antonio Cordero and completed the loan signing of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have also seen transfer targets Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko opt to sign for Liverpool and Manchester United, respectively, with Brentford’s Yoane Wissa also on the club’s radar and reportedly keen to sign.

Any potential arrivals will likely be influenced by Isak’s situation, with head coach Eddie Howe recently explaining how the saga is “complex”.

Last week, Howe said: "I really don't know what is going to happen next, but, from our perspective, we still support Alex in every way and my wish is still that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again."
One thing’s for sure: if Isak does join Liverpool, Newcastle will need a proven goalscorer to replace the Swede, and according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, that man could be Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, but there’s a catch.

The outlet claims that Newcastle are “currently evaluating Vlahovic, who was offered to the club again in the last few hours by the usual intermediaries”.
And “if the long-awaited deal were to materialise, then Juventus management could try to sign [Sandro] Tonali”.

Any potential deal could also include one of Douglas Luiz or Nicolò Savona rather than a straight swap.

Vlahovic, 25, joined Juve from Fiorentina in 2022 and has netted 58 goals in 145 appearances for the Turin outfit.
As for Tonali, who is contracted to Newcastle until 2028, he thrived in a midfield three alongside Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton in 2024/25 and is one of the Magpies’ most important players.
The Italian is said to be a ‘dream’ option for Juve, who are also interested in Spurs midfielder Yves Bissouma, Brighton’s Matt O’Riley, Al Ahli’s Franck Kessie, and Morten Hjulmand of Sporting CP.
Sandro Tonali's agent denies Juventus transfer
Back in February, Tonali's agent Bepe Riso made his stance clear on his client's future.

Speaking via Fabrizio Romano, Riso said: "Back to Serie A in June? He is one of the best midfielders in the world, he has a price Italian clubs will hardly be able to pay.
“I imagine a career for him far away from Serie A."
