Former Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin have been left panicking after they were told that their 2025/26 home kit had been banned just days before their first game.
Three weeks ago, German second tier side Hertha BSC unveiled a brand new blue and white striped home kit for the 2025/26 season.
The kit was an immediate success with fans who praised what was the first shirt designed by manufacturer designed by Castore, following the end of their 26-year partnership with Nike.
It was expected that the former Bundesliga side would be able to show off the new kit during their first home game of the new season against Karlsruher on August 10.

But it has now been revealed that this will not be the case as the German Football League (DFL), has banned Hertha's home kit.

In just a few days, Hertha get their season underway with an away match against FC Schalke 04 at the Veltins-Arena.
But before then, they will need to begin plans to change their home kit after the DFL banned it due to complaints that the stripe pattern on the front of the shirt is not reflected on the back.

Confirming the news, the German side announced: ""After submitting the jerseys for the new season, the DFL informed us that the home jersey could not be approved in the submitted form, as the stripe pattern on the front must also be repeated on the back (bottom).
"We now have until Matchday 9 to add the stripes to the Pro version (the version worn by the players).
"We will do this ahead of schedule, probably for the first home game. The player jerseys (Pro version) for sale will also feature the stripe pattern in the lower section of the back of the jersey."

Luckily for Hertha, with their first game being away from home, they will be able to wear their white away kit for the match against Schalke, giving them more time to adapt the home kit to the regulations.
But for fans who bought the current jersey, which is the most expensive in the German second tier at €99.95, this change now means that they will not wearing the original player version, but a replica.
