Erling Haaland has already offered his thoughts about potentially signing for Real Madrid amid links with a €500 million move to the La Liga giants.
Haaland is one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe and has registered 287 goals in 362 professional appearances during his club career across spells with Molde, Bryne, Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester City.
And his goalscoring exploits earned him a bumper contract worth a reported £500,000 a week before bonuses at City, which he signed in January of 2024, keeping him at the Etihad until June 2034.
By then, Haaland will be 34 and likely past his peak. Most City supporters will be hoping the Norway international sees out the duration of the deal.

But according to Sky Germany, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is keen on bringing the striker to the Santiago Bernabeu in what would be a world record deal.

Perez is supposedly “dreaming” of signing Haaland in the summer of 2026 and remains in contact with the player’s representatives and agent, Rafaela Pimenta.
The outlet reports that Haaland sees playing for Real as a “career goal”, but a potential deal could prove complex and costly for the 15-time European champions.

Sky Germany claims that Vinicius Junior would have to leave the club before Real could afford a transfer fee of over €500 million (£433 million) to secure the services of Haaland.
The 25-year-old was previously the subject of interest from Madrid back in 2022, when he played for Borussia Dortmund, but he opted for a move to the Premier League, joining City.
But has or could Haaland’s mind change given the recent interest from the La Liga side, and what has he said about a move to Real in the past?
Back in March of 2024, ahead of City’s 3-1 win over Copenhagen in the Champions League round of 16, Haaland was asked about a potential move to the Spanish capital.

“Real Madrid? You never know what the future may bring,” the Norwegian said.
Then, in January of 2025, he was asked about the topic once more after his father, Alf Inge, suggested that he wanted to see his son play in all of Europe’s top leagues for a period of two or three years when Erling joined City in 2022.
“I just signed a nine-and-a-half year deal, so what do you want me to say?” Haaland snapped back.

“… I’m super happy with my choice, and I’m looking forward to spending many years in Manchester, and that’s really it.”
Fast forward to December of 2025, and after City’s 2-1 Champions League league phase win at the Santiago Bernabeu, Haaland described the stadium as “incredible”.
“It’s a nice place to play. Look at this place, it’s incredible,” he explained. “These are the games we want to play. In this format, we get to play more games, which is nice. And I like it.”
