Craig Bellamy completely shut down a journalist’s question about Mohamed Salah during a press conference ahead of Wales’ World Cup play-off semi-final clash against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On Tuesday (24 March), Salah posted a video on social media confirming that the 2025/26 campaign will be his last for Liverpool.
The Egyptian arrived at Anfield from Serie A side AS Roma in June 2017 for an initial £34 million, before going on to win two Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League, among other honours.
In an emotional farewell video, the Egyptian thanked the fans for their unwavering support over his nine seasons with the club.

“Leaving is never easy,” Salah said. “You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you.
“This club will always be my home, for me and my family.
“Thank you for everything.
“Because of all of you, I will never walk alone.”

As expected, fans, pundits and ex-players have had their say, with Jamie Carragher saying Salah leaves Liverpool ranked above Cristiano Ronaldo among the greatest players in Premier League history in his column for The Telegraph.
“In the pantheon of overseas attacking players to have excelled in England, only Thierry Henry eclipses Salah’s output and consistency,” the former Liverpool defender wrote.
Carragher then ranked Salah as Liverpool’s sixth greatest ever player, behind Steven Gerrard, Sir Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness, John Barnes and Ian Rush.
However, ex-Liverpool winger and current Wales head coach Bellamy was not so keen to laud Salah.
On Wednesday (25 March), Bellamy spoke to the media ahead of Wales’ crunch match against Bosnia, which could see them set up a Path A final against Italy or Northern Ireland, with the victors qualifying for the World Cup.
In response to a journalist’s question about Salah, Bellamy hit back: “Does he play for Wales tomorrow? We’ll talk about him another day, then.”
Bellamy then admitted that he loves the Egyptian before adding: “I’ll give him that justice another time. Does he play for Bosnia or Wales? No. We’ll move on from Mo Salah for now.”
