'Beyond embarrassing' - Dana White makes 'distasteful' comment in bizarre exchange with Nina Drama at Zuffa Boxing event

Dana White made a 'distasteful' and inaccurate comment when he complained about the lack of ring girls at a recent Zuffa Boxing event in Dublin.

White brought his boxing promotion to Ireland for the first time over the weekend as 3Arena in Dublin hosted Zuffa Boxing 10, which saw Irish fighter Aaron McKenna defeat Italian Etinosa Oliha to secure the vacant IBF middleweight title.

The UFC president was making an appearance on Nina Drama's ringside fight coverage during Zuffa's debut event in Ireland on Saturday, when he claimed there were no ring girls due to a made-up British rule that supposedly insisted on a requirement to have ring boys as well.

While the false comment went viral on social media and baited fans into faux outrage, it could be immediately disproved by anyone who actually questioned it.

When asked by Drama why there weren't any ring card girls at the event, White said: "Don't even get me started. The UK won't use ring card girls unless you have ring card boys."

The response was met with a facepalm by Drama as both commentators dropped their microphones. The clip then cut to Drama questioning: "Who would want to see a ring card boy? Sounds weird and perverted."

Not only was there immense irony to the fact that Drama didn't have any issue with the 'perverted' nature of ring girls, but the claims made by White were also completely incorrect.

First of all, Dublin is in the Republic of Ireland and is therefore not part of the United Kingdom. The event was sanctioned by the Boxing Union of Ireland, not the British Boxing Board of Control.

Secondly, ring girls are allowed at events in the UK. There is no such rule under the British Boxing Board of Control that prohibits the use of ring girls, or stipulates the use of ring boys.

Only a week ago, Pierce O’Leary fought in the same 3Arena in Dublin on a card promoted by Frank Warren, which saw ring card girls used.

"Dublin isn't in the UK... and even if they were in the UK, the s*** he said about ring card girls is literally just a lie," said one social media user. While another added: "So, not only does Dana not know Boxing, he has now added Geography to the list. Beyond embarrassing."

Another wrote: "Baldy pretends he's got Irish heritage and then says Dublin is in the UK."
