Premier League cult-hero Kevin Nolan has revealed his Northampton Town side failed to secure a deadline day signing after the player 'forgot to sign' the contract.
Northampton, who currently sit 23rd in League One were desperate to secure extra firepower at the top of the pitch this window.
With just 26 goals scored in 29 games this campaign, Nolan made a striker a priority, and until the dying seconds of the window they believed they had their man.
The player in question isn't named, but was believed to be The Cobblers number one target adding salt into the wounds of the League 1 club.

Speaking to the media after the deadline, Nolan revealed the move fell through due to the player failing to sign the docusign.

“He forgot to sign the Docusign we sent to them, would you believe, and we weren’t able to get the extension for it, which was gutting," the former West Ham and Newcastle star revealed.
“We were incredibly frustrated, as frustrated as everyone else was," he added.
However, it wasn't all bad news for Northampton who signed Kyle McAdam and Ben Hammond from Premier League side Nottingham Forest on deadline day.
Nolan had high praise for their new recruits, with both being highly rated by their parent club.
"Ben is a player who caught our eye when we have seen him play for Forest on a number of occasions," Nolan said via Northampton's official website.
"He comes here with a similar profile to Ben Perry last season and he is one we are possibly looking at beyond the next few months.
"We think he could have a big future in the game, people whose opinion we trust and value agree and rate him very highly.
Speaking on McAdam, he continued: "He has some real quality about him, he has had a taste of League One so he knows what this level is all about and he is very well thought of at Nottingham Forest."
The Cobblers drew their last outing with Barnsley 2-2, and face Stevenage at the weekend.
