Claudio Ranieri has spoken about Jamie Vardy’s future after the Leicester City star was spotted at an Italian club.

Vardy played a key role last month when the Foxes sealed the Championship title with a 3-0 win over Preston North End.

Since Leicester’s promotion back to the Premier League was confirmed, Vardy has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium.

The 37-year-old’s current contract is set to expire in the summer and there has so far been no indication that Leicester will offer him a new deal.

Over the weekend, the Englishman was spotted at Serie B side Como, who recently secured their own promotion to the top flight of Italian football.

After Cagliari’s 5-1 defeat by AC Milan at San Siro, manager Ranieri, who worked with Vardy at Leicester, was asked about the Englishman’s future.

As per TV Dello Sport, he said: “I don't know that. No, he didn't call me. I don't think he even has my Italian number. I don't know if Fabregas is interested in him. But I'm certainly glad to see all my players who fought for the title with me in England.”

After the match against Preston, Vardy was asked whether he was thinking about hanging up his boots after an illustrious career in English football.

He said: “Listen, I’m not ready to hang the boots up yet. The legs feel fine and I feel as fit as I ever have so we’ll just see what happens.”

Speaking about the season in general, Vardy said: “The season has gone quickly but it’s a graft! Not many days off, I’ll tell you that for nothing! The lads have given it their all. As you’ve seen us play, that’s like it is in training. It’s full throttle.

“It’s thoroughly deserved and I’m just glad we’ve had 5,000 here tonight to come and celebrate with us. The fans are massive. It’s not like it’s 20 minutes up the road. It’s a night game and to come out in those numbers, all still here now and wanting to celebrate.”
