Jadon Sancho 'drops transfer bombshell' as get-out clause between Chelsea and Man Utd emerges

He has identified his 'dream destination', according to a new report.

Jadon Sancho has identified a so-called 'dream destination' ahead of the summer window, according to a new report – and he's already expressed his desire to join the club.

Back in August, Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan from Manchester United in a deal that includes an obligation to buy for up to £25 million if they finish 14th or higher in the Premier League.

After enjoying an impressive start to life at Stamford Bridge, the 24-year-old has struggled for form of late, with his last goal coming in December against Spurs.

But Chelsea are still expected to sign Sancho permanently following the emergence of a get-out clause, according to Sky Sports.

It emerged this week that the Blues could opt against proceeding with the full transfer by giving parent club United a set fee of just £5 million.

Amid his uncertain future, Bundesliga clubs Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are said to be keeping track of Sancho's situation ahead of an "opportunistic" offer in the summer.

And a report from German publication BILD claims the player has submitted a request to his management to join former club Dortmund.

"Sancho has never lost touch with his old love," the report adds. "He continues to speak regularly with his friend Jamie Gittens and is fully on the ball with the Ruhr club. Word from his English circle is that his desire to return to the Bundesliga is growing daily."

In fact, Dortmund is now considered "a kind of dream destination" for Sancho, who joined the German club from Manchester City in 2017 before scoring 50 goals in 137 appearances for Die Schwarzgelben.

Sancho went on to sign for Manchester United in 2021 for a reported £73 million but in January last year, he rejoined Dortmund on loan for the rest of the 2023/24 campaign.

Sancho has previously made it clear that he wanted to remain at Chelsea following his loan spell.

"It’s still a bit weird to me, but it’s always good to be home," he told Chelsea’s official website in December. "My family is close, my friends are close.

"I always supported Chelsea as a kid, because of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. And speaking to Enzo [Maresca] before I came here, he was determined to work with me.

"He showed me his plans of where he sees me fitting in the team, and telling me how I could help the team moving forward. That brought me here. He made me feel comfortable. I liked his energy on the Facetime call we had.

"This squad has a lot of great talent. It’s weird being one of the older players. There are a lot of young guys here. I have a lot of experience and I can show and help a couple of the younger ones coming through.

"And they can help me. We can achieve something big if we all stick together and work hard together."
