UEFA are set to grant Real Madrid a special request that could give them a huge boost against Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will go head-to-head on Wednesday night in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.

The two European giants played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the first leg in Bavaria last week.

Vinicius Junior gave the Spanish champions a first half lead, before Bayern stormed ahead shortly after half-time with quick-fire goals from Leroy Sane and Harry Kane.

Vinicius scored a late penalty to draw the visitors level and leave the tie finely poised ahead of the second leg in Madrid.

Madrid will be confident of progressing to the final having already eliminated reigning European champions Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

Unlike in the last round Carlo Ancelotti's side will play the decisive second leg in-front of a home crowd, something they will look to use to their advantage.

In a bid to ramp up the atmosphere even further, Madrid are set to close the roof of their newly renovated Santiago Bernabeu home after being granted approval by UEFA, as per journalist Arancha Rodriquez.

Madrid completed the renovation of their famous stadium earlier this year to the tune of £1.5 billion, and one of the main features is a retractable roof.

Real Madrid will close the Bernabeu roof when they face Bayern Munich.

While such a feature might seem redundant in one of the driest cities in Europe, but it works to trap noise from the stands and create an intimidating cauldron-like atmosphere.

Los Blancos received permission from UEFA to close the roof for the second leg of their last-16 tie against RB Leipzig in March, a game that ended 1-1.

Madrid's 3-3 draw with Man City in the quarter-final first leg was also played under a close roof, as have several La Liga matches this season including the 3-0 demolition of Cadiz on Saturday that ended up securing Madrid the title.

The winner of Wednesday night's game will take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final on June 1 at Wembley Stadium.
