Real Madrid fans are fuming with one player after the side’s 2-1 loss against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg.
On Tuesday (7 April), Alvaro Arbeloa’s side looked to put the weekend’s 2–1 defeat at Mallorca behind them as they took on Bundesliga giants Bayern.
Of course, both sides have long legacies in the Champions League, winning the competition 21 times between them – Real boast 15, while Bayern have won six.
However, it was the Germans who came out on top at the Santiago Bernabeu, leaving the Spaniards with it all to do in next week’s second leg in Bavaria.

Former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz opened the scoring in the 41st minute, with the Colombian running in behind his former team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold before slotting past Andriy Lunin.
Shortly after half-time, Bayern doubled their lead after Aleksandar Pavlovic dispossessed Alvaro Carreras and Michael Olise teed up Harry Kane, who smashed past Lunin from the edge of the penalty area.
And, just like Trent had done after Diaz's opener, Carreras bore the brunt of criticism on social media.
One fan said: “I still haven’t understood the purchase of Carreras – does anyone have an idea?”
Another added: “I think Lunin can do more in goal, but let’s not lose focus on yet another f**k-up by that goddamn Carreras.”
While a third commented: “The funniest part is that Fran García was less bad than Carreras in Real’s big games this season.”
A fourth claimed: “Olise is simultaneously exposing the level of Carreras and that of Vinicius and Mbappé.”
A fifth exclaimed: “It’s spectacular how well-trained this Bayern team is – surreal collective play, and when the individual brilliance shows up, it ends the game. Olise doing whatever he wants with the full-backs.”
A sixth joked: “Someone tell Carreras that he’s playing a football match.”
Real did pull one back in the 74th minute, with Kylian Mbappé tapping home a perfectly curled ball from Alexander-Arnold to restore hope around the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bayern return to Bundesliga action away against St Pauli on 11 April, while Real are next in action on Friday (10 April) when they take on Girona at home.
