Liverpool have been linked with a shocking swap deal involving a Real Madrid star just hours after their Champions League quarter-final first-leg defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.

On Wednesday (8 April), Slot’s side could not overcome the reigning European champions at a raucous Parc des Princes, with the Premier League side trailing by a two-goal deficit ahead of next week’s second leg at Anfield.

Desire Doue’s deflected shot opened the scoring after 11 minutes, with the away team struggling to get a foothold in the game, registering just 26 per cent possession while failing to register a single shot on target in the 90 minutes.

PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia doubled Luis Enrique’s side’s lead on 56 minutes to hand his side a convincing 2-0 win, which dented Liverpool’s hopes of securing a seventh European triumph this term.

Slot opted to start a back five of Milos Kerkez, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, Joe Gomez and Jeremie Frimpong, with former Reds defender Jamie Carragher saying the Liverpool boss got his tactics “massively wrong”.

Meanwhile, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike struggled to make a positive impact in the final third on a torrid evening for the Merseyside club.

It has since emerged that the side are reportedly working on a swap deal that could see Mac Allister sign for Real Madrid, with Eduardo Camavinga potentially moving the other way in a shock switch.

Liverpool have been admirers of the France international for some time.

Since Alvaro Arbeloa stepped up as Los Blancos’ head coach in January, Camavinga has been in and out of the side, with the midfielder competing with Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni for a starting spot. The 23-year-old has also struggled with an ankle injury this season.

As reported by TeamTalk, Camavinga’s camp are assessing options which has alerted Liverpool’s hierarchy, with the Frenchman out of contract in 2029. Arsenal and several Saudi Arabian clubs are also keen on the Real midfielder.

The La Liga side are said to be keen on Mac Allister as well as Manchester City midfielder Rodri, Paris Saint-Germain star Vitinha and Chelsea man Enzo Fernandez.

The outlet also claims that a direct swap deal involving Camavinga, 23, and Mac Allister, 27, should not be ruled out at this stage, although it remains to be seen whether the clubs will negotiate some kind of fee to be included in the swap.

The Argentina international’s current Liverpool contract is set to run until 2028. Since arriving from Brighton in 2023, Mac Allister has helped the Reds win a League Cup and the Premier League.
