Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe was handed one of his lowest L'Equipe ratings ever after he produced a "very disappointing" display against Newcastle United.

The 24-year-old may be one of the world's best players but even he was unable to make an impact as Eddie Howe's side blew their opponents away in the Champions League Group F clash.

Goals from Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar sealed a historic 4-1 win for the Magpies, who smothered PSG with their high press and intensity.

Lucas Hernandez managed to net a consolation after some great play from teenage midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery.

But it was an ultimately abysmal night for Les Parisiens. In fact, French publication L'Equipe handing out some pretty brutal ratings after the full-time whistle at St James' Park.

Overall, no PSG player earned more than a 6/10 on an evening that was branded one of "the worst European evenings in PSG's history" by the outlet.

The performance of Kylian Mbappe, meanwhile, earned a rating of just 2/10, with L'Equipe saying he "almost did not exist" throughout.

Mbappe's teammate and summer signing Randal Kolo Muani was also handed a 2/10 as the report said he was "untraceable and messy" when he had a rare chance on goal.

Manuel Ugarte, Achraf Hakimi and Goncalo Ramos were also handed 3/10's for their contribution to a damning defeat on Tyneside, while goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was handed a quite flattering 5/10.

In terms of Newcastle's ratings from Wednesday's night clash, the in-form Bruno Guimaraes delivered a very solid performance for Eddie Howe's men and was given a well-deserved 8/10 for his efforts.

Miguel Almiron, Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar, who all found the net, got sevens.

After the full-time whistle, PSG boss Luis Enrique claimed his side were unfortunate to lose by such a big margin.

“The result is so big for them but I don’t think we deserved that result," he said. "These are difficult games to live through for a manager. I sincerely think the result is a bit unfair but not totally."

Enrique added: “Congratulations to Newcastle. They played very good football. But the scoreline is excessive. I thought it (sticking to his starting formation of 4-2-4) was for the best, and I still do.“

Thoughts on L'Equipe's post-match ratings? Are they fair?
