CBS Sports presenter Kate Scott almost fell victim to a huge wardrobe malfunction during the channel’s Champions League coverage.

Scott, who leads the American broadcaster’s coverage of Europe’s premier club competition, was in place alongside former Premier League stars Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards, and Clint Dempsey on Wednesday evening when she somehow prevented what would’ve been an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction from happening.

The incident occurred when former Fulham and USMNT star Dempsey leaned towards Kate before offering her a fist bump, having earlier shaken hands with his fellow panellists.

The 44-year-old presenter, who previously worked for Sky Sports, DAZN and CNN, among others, was forced to react instantly after her dress ripped as she stretched across the table.

Scott quickly covered the rip with her hand before she said, “I just broke my top”, while the panel could not contain their laughter as Henry quipped, “Really”.

“Give us a stretch, Kate,” Richards added before Scott tried to continue presenting while the panel carried on chuckling at the mishap.

The CBS Sports team clearly have a close relationship and have worked alongside each other for many years, providing entertaining and ultimately unique coverage of the Champions League, which is rarely seen on large broadcasters.

A similar thing happened to Richards last season during coverage of Barcelona’s 5-4 victory away at Benfica when the former Manchester City right-back jumped up in excitement following Raphinha’s last-gasp goal, causing a button on his blazer to pop off to the amusement of his peers.

"I had too much to eat, didn't I!" Richards joked at the time.

On Wednesday, fans were quick to react to the comical incident involving Scott on social media, with some praising her ability to continue presenting.

One said: “Kate might be the best in the business.”

Another added: “Poor Kate. That was a great save though and kept going like a professional lol.”

While a third claimed: “They all handled that perfectly.”

As a fourth commented: “Ay man. One of them could’ve offered their jacket or something.”

Scott formerly went by the name Kate Abdo before she married former professional boxer Malik Scott back in September 2024.

Malik, who previously coached former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, sports a record of 38-3-1 from his professional boxing career, having fought top-class fighters such as Derek Chisora, Luis Ortiz and Wilder.
